It’s that time of the year again……. Time for Spring Cleaning!!

This is a great opportunity to clear out the items you no longer need and can start a fresh 2016!  Here is a Spring Cleaning Checklist and a few tips on how to go about spring cleaning your office:

 

Keep only what is need

Our work spaces tend to be full of… stuff.  So look around and ask yourself, “do I need these or will I be needing it in the near future?” It’s likely you will not so time to toss it!  It will be more productive to have that extra space for yourself and your workers to breathe and move around in. 

A clean and organized office is visually pleasing to your clients and visitors…. Don’t forget, your clients may think an office reflects the work you are producing.

 

Clear desks

Allow yourself a couple minutes at the end of the day to dispose of food containers, wrappers, coffee cups, and any other trash. Then go through the files and paperwork that are still sitting on your desk and sort them, file them, and put them where they need to go. No more “oh, I’ll take care of it tomorrow.” 

 

Paper

Do we really need to print out all those unnecessary reports and old agendas? By scaling back on printing, or printing double-sided when you need a hard copy, you’ll reduce those stacks of paper that only end up piled up on your desk. Plus the trees will thank you!

 

Sort your inbox

Cleaning out your digital clutter is essential— the more organized your computer/files are, the easier it will be for you to find what you need and be more efficient. From updating contacts, making sure you are operating on the latest software upgrades, uninstalling programs that you do not use, organizing your documents that you’ll need again to the cloud or memory stick and trashing or archiving the rest, to deleting/sorting emails.  Spring comes once a year, and thank goodness so does digital spring cleaning.
